We are now two days into 2012. Did you make a New Year’s resolution this year? In good faith, many people make a promise to do something to better themselves, whether it’s to lose weight, begin an exercise program, stop smoking or head to a place of worship on a regular basis.

It’s almost Monday morning and you know what that means, the hour soon approaches for you to drag your weekend soaked body out of bed and beat the sluggishness off before your responsibilities kick in! But don’t panic yet, we have some great tips for you to keep that weekend joy every morning of the week… yes, even Monday!


Let the sun shine in! Sunlight triggers your body to stop producing melatonin, the hormone responsible for making you tired. It also resets the area in your brain that controls your internal 24-hr clock!
Strike a yoga pose! The first movement of the day increases blood flow to the brain. Try a simple modified sun salutation, it increases circulation all over the body and oxygen tot he brain.
Say a little prayer! Our bodies are in survival mode after hours of having no food or water and we can combat that with feelings and thoughts of gratitude. Say a little prayer for a few things you’re thankful for and remember something you’re looking forward to that day! This increases dopamine and essentially makes you happy ;)
Speaking of endorphins, get your body moving with some cardio and strength training! Not only will this skyrocket your endorphins but your metabolism will be burning more calories for the rest of the day. The tougher the workout the longer your metabolism will be raised!
